Does anybody really know what time it is? Although I am simply guessing, I would think that as we approach the date of December 21, 2012, we are getting closer and closer to the time for witnessing the ritual enactment of the rejuvenation of the sun. In other words, isn’t it around this time that the Aztecs would be preparing to sacrifice a human heart for the purpose of rejuvenating the sun? I suppose now would be the perfect time to remind you that you should not try this at home.
I have learned over the years that a persons ability to anger is in part proportional to their deepest understanding of their existence. Stated differently, the more spiritually attuned one is the less likely they are to expressing anger. I bring this up because I have read the articles listed in this section of the blog and I believe that several of them will anger many people. Therefore, if you are the kind of person that is capable of experiencing anger, especially as it relates to what you believe about God and religion, then don’t read any of the material contained in this section.
These articles are offered here for self-actualized individuals that appreciate having as much input to consider in arriving at their own conclusions about what they believe. Allow me to give you an example of what I mean in terms of my own reaction to these articles. I am not an Aztec and I do not wish to suggest than anyone read these articles and change their beliefs as a result of what they have read. I find some of the content of the articles interesting and other parts not very interesting at all. One thing that does fascinate me, however, is the way the Mayans are said to view time.
All my life I have been virtually alone in my own thoughts about how I view life and time. I have personally believed that life as we know it is insignificant in relation to God. Because of this belief and how I view time, I have always believed that I can go without wealth or power or anything else that people tend to strive for because everything that I truly love and believe is beyond what I can experience in this lifetime. In this context, then, I have spent my life praising God and asking for nothing in this lifetime, knowing that the kingdom of God is the only thing that truly matters to me. For me, life in time for human existence is like going through a horizontal cycle of life and death, over and over again. Alternatively, I have always sought to believe in the realm of the eternal and the kingdom of God which I have viewed as a plateau expanding outwardly for eternity without the need for a life and death cycle.
You see, reading these articles didn’t provide me with any answers I’ve been looking for. Instead, it describes things in such a way that it has shown me I am not alone in thinking of time differently from how it has always been thought of in the culture in which I have been raised. This alone is worth its weight in gold to me but it has nothing to do with the content of the articles. It is in this context, then, that I present these articles for your review and consideration. How you think of them and how you react to them is entirely up to you. I have absolutely no expectations of you in these regards.
